The Empty Tomb - in the Book of Revelation

We often think of the book of Revelation as merely prophetic in nature. To be sure, Revelation is filled with prophetic implications. But it also speaks of the gospel, deals with matters of discipleship, gives warning, and offers hope.

Listen to Revelation1:5-6: "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead.... (V6b) unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood... unto him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."

Washing our sins in his own blood, is clearly a picture of the cross of Jesus Christ on Calvary. It's the gospel in plain view. Further, scriptures speaks of Jesus being the "first begotten of the dead". The word "begotten" means to be born. In other words, Jesus Christ is the first human to resurrect (new birth / the "Born Again" process in its completion phase) from the dead.

I Corinthians 15:20-23 (gives more understanding):

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

The "Born Again" process BEGINS for us, when we (both) believe, and obey the gospel of Jesus Christ (see our "Born Again" page on BibleProphecyShow.com).

When we (as saved Christians) are resurrected at the "Rapture", the "Born Again" process will be complete. Just as Jesus was the first "begotten" (born) of the dead (meaning: Jesus was the first person to complete the "Born Again" process completely); likewise, we too (at Christ's 2nd Coming) will rise from the dead, completing the "Born Again" process, that we BEGAN by obeying Acts 2:38.
